Restumping continues

The re-stumping continues quite quickly. As I type this (lunch break working from home) the Building Inspector is outside checking off the stump holes and the new concrete stumps which are now largely in place suspended from the bearers. It’s all kind of “backwards” from what I expected. Basically the process is to lift the house on the jacks, remove the old stumps, dig out the stump holes, put the new concrete stumps in place, affixed to the bearers with the footing of the new stumps still loose, then level the house, straighten the concrete stumps and concrete them in.

A floating stump. The building inspector just popped inside to say it’s all good and he’s signed off for it to proceed.
