Seattle...

Ah Seattle, home of Starbucks, Nirvana, Microsoft, Boeing, soppy Tom Hanks movies, the Seattle Needle, Frasier and of course Aussie Rules…At breakfast this morning, this article on footy was FRONT PAGE of the sports section.  It’s an interesting read, particularly the fact that one of the biggest restrictions to growth in the US is there are no suitable sized (ie. Cricket Oval) fields.  I was amused by the fact that the 2006 Grand Final (complete with picture of MCG) was apparently held in Perth.I’m here for work at the moment and due to time zones, changing schedules and non-flexible air-fares I’ve ended up with some time to actually do something touristy for once, so I hope to drive into Seattle today to have a look around,  then on Thursday before I head home I’m heading to Boeing to do a tour of their assembly line and see where they put the 747’s, 777’s and with luck maybe even a 787 (Dreamliner) being built. So far Washington state is very picturesque, think lots of rolling hills, lakes, pine trees and wooden houses, all surrounded by high mountains with snow on the top at the moment.  Weather is much nicer here than London at the moment too I’m told, so another bonus there!
