Rushed home onTuesday night after chatting with James in the morning expecting to see the bearers and possibly joists in for the floor. Unfortunately the materials weren’t delivered on time. Think this left James and I as disappointed as each other — it was a great day for working yesterday.

After a weekend of staring at the stumps and thinking how cool it would be to see the bearers go in, on Monday, nothing happened. The weather was cold and wet and (sensibly) James and Jason had an RDO. Here’s a link to the latest version of the rear

Once the stump holes were drilled, the strings were put back up to provide the levels and then the stumps put in. This took two days, setting out the deck first and putting in these stumps, then the extension on Friday. This was for two reasons, firstly getting the stumps

The set out process went smoothly although a few minor issues were revealed. We moved the deck a metre and a half because it felt more asthetic. Partly this was due to us deleting the deck linking down the side of the house to save cost during the tender process.

The tree was originally scheduled to come down on Thursday, but because of the weather it didn’t happen. Fortunately the tree lopper finished his other job early on Friday and because the weather was great, came around to take advantage of it. That’s Lilly in the foreground, one

I decided to create a blog to easily share the pictures of our renovation in progress. Here’s the house as it is before we started. Day one: Jason is removing the existing deck. I was working from home and it happened in surprisingly quick time — 1 hour and the
